In May 2022, Locumsmart leaders and staff visited the eCare offices in Chennai, India. Started in 2000, eCare has become one of the leading medical billing companies in India with a staff of over 1,000 employees.
Since 2019, eCare has provided a wide variety of outsourcing services for Locumsmart, including billing and enrollment, quality credentialing, RPO (recruitment process outsourcing) services, and invoice compliance. Most recently, eCare has begun providing level 1 chat support, which allows Locumsmart users to receive 24-hour support.
In addition to providing in-person coaching and training, the purpose of the trip was to build long-term relationships with a team of almost 30 eCare employees dedicated exclusively to Locumsmart. The Locumsmart staff appreciated the kindness and generosity of the eCare team during their visit, stating that they were incredible hosts.
Bob Shumard, director of client services, explains, “Locumsmart has a specific way of handling outsourcing, and one aspect is to commit to visiting once a year. These are people, they are important to us, and their work is important to us. You can’t say that if you do not commit to spending time with them.”

Shumard has known eCare for over ten years, and Locumsmart started officially working with them three and a half years ago. “Our eCare staff team has very low turnover. Other eCare staff not on our team want to be on our team,” says Shumard.
