Approximately 60 Vendors and 1,000 Facilities work on the LocumsMart portal every day, and we have pretty good visibility into industry trends. Over the last year, we have noticed a significant increase in the number of our Healthcare Organization (HCO) clients that are requesting specific Vendors be given “Tier 1” status at their Facilities. LocumsMart gives HCOs the ability to set up certain Vendors as “priority” Vendors in their Workflow Settings, which means those Vendors will get the first shot at filling Assignment Requests (ARs) at the HCO’s Facilities.
Whether or not an HCO chooses to give certain Vendors priority status, LocumsMart doesn’t force Users to submit their ARs to all eligible Vendors. Instead, Facility Users have the flexibility to submit their ARs to only one or a few of the Vendors on their Master Contract. LocumsMart calls these “targeted” ARs. Submitting targeted ARs gives Users the opportunity to reward the Vendors that do the best job filling jobs at their Facility, by limiting the number of Vendors that are recruiting for their needs. Facilities often have direct, one-on-one relationships with Vendors that they wish to continue via their use of LocumsMart, and targeting their ARs gives them the opportunity to do so.
At the same time, the purpose of a tool like LocumsMart for an HCO is to reap the benefits of competition among the Vendors on its Master Contract. Therefore, HCO- and/or Facility-level Users always have the ability to log into LocumsMart and submit their ARs to additional Vendors at any time with the click of a mouse (or recall ARs from Vendors they previously submitted to, but no longer want to work with).
LocumsMart is designed to help drive efficiency, create a sense of urgency among an HCO’s chosen Vendors, and help make sure Facilities get fair market value on each locum tenens provider they book. The competition on LocumsMart translates into the average job receiving three Bids within the first 24 hours. However, if Facilities limit their AR submissions to a single Vendor too often, they run the risk of losing the benefits of that competition.
To help our HCO Members maintain the delicate balance between respecting Facility-level relationships and increasing competition, LocumsMart offers HCOs a rules-based Workflow Setting for auto-submitting ARs. This Workflow Setting assures an HCO that any targeted ARs submitted by their Facilities not filled on a timely basis will be automatically submitted to all other Vendors that have signed the parent HCO’s Master Contract. The combination of targeted ARs, priority/paused Vendors, and the AR auto-submittal Workflow Settings in LocumsMart provide maximum flexibility at the point-of-sale, while ensuring that relationships aren’t taking precedence over economics.
